Weekly Montana Hay Report

Compared to last report: Alfalfa hay in rounds sold generally steady to
weak on old crop. New crop hay sales have started to pop up, however limited
volumes are being found. Demand for dairy hay is very good as much of the hay
in Idaho and Washington was rained on before it could be put up. Produces
in the state have had difficulties too putting up hay as rains continue to
keep fields wet and hay from drying. Interest for straw is good as well, however
several weeks remain before the first bails of straw hit the market. All prices
below are old crop hay unless otherwise noted. All prices are dollars per ton
and
FOB unless otherwise noted.
